First off - Welcome to the Island! I hope you like it here :) Here are some very common questions new wizards tend to have that several of us have tried to pre-answer for you! Farther down are more detailed questions and answers. If you are stuck on a particular quest, check out the Island WIKI in the upper right hand corner under “Help and Discuss” (be careful - there are many spoilers in there! ) http://theenchantedisland.wikispaces.com/
Please also note although there is a forum there…this is not the place to ask your questions as not many will see it so you may go hours without a reply.

 BASICS!

Why the time wait and can I increase my energy?
Enchanted Island is a passive game, each cast will refill after 7.5 minutes, it's designed to be a game that you leave open in the background and check on throughout the day. When you arrive on the island you will have 2/2 casting energy, there are several ways to increase this. As you complete your first 3 quests, you will receive 1 more casting point for each (this will allow you to bank more casts while you are away). The second way to increase energy is to buy the three jewels listed in the premium shop. They are expensive, but do help you level up faster! The last way is to bring your facebook friends to join us here on the island. One new friend will give you 1 more casting point, 3 new friends another casting point, and 10 friends your last casting point. This can give you a possibility of 11/11 energy.

What can I do during my wait?
If you're bored, check out the Wizards Chat to talk with other players while you're waiting. You can also read the forums under the Help and Discuss tab or talk under Island Gossip found under Hops' Haven. If you don’t wish to stay on the island - many of our wizards will work, do their homework, cook, clean, watch movies, play other games, check email, among many other things during the wait!

Duds!
In the beginning there are many many duds! No worries even these duds count as they will help you level up. This is normal for magical growing. However, you should know that all bad luck streaks are balanced by good luck streaks and surprise visitors. With good luck you'll grow many plants in a row and with bad luck you'll have many duds in a row--but the island spirits will ensure that a wizards success will be balanced.

Silver verses Gold
Silver can be obtained by selling your plants, be very careful with it at the beginning of the game!
Gold will be received each time you level up. You may also donate money to the island and in return as a thank you receive extra gold. You may do so here: http://theenchantedisland.com/shop/donations
There is no conversion between silver and gold.

 SEEDS, WANDS and OTHER ITEMS

Seeds dropped by the crow
These are rare seeds and cannot be bought on the island. Older wizards often refer to these seeds as seeds from a foreign land. You may want to keep some of these on hand at all times, because you never know when you might need one....

“Silver Seeds” vs “Gold Seeds” vs “Gifted Seeds”
Silver seeds can be found in the supply shop, Gold seeds can be found in the Premium Shop, and “Gifted Seeds” come from visitors (they could bring “silver seeds”, “gold seeds”, or even seeds you cannot buy on the island). In General, the silver seeds will be a part of the main quests that you will be on.
The Gold seeds rotate in the Premium shop and are only there for a limited amount of time. These seeds provide “Side/Bonus Quests” that can be done at any time, and in any order.

Buying Seeds, Wands, Clothing, Potions, etc...
The Supply Shop sells seeds, wands, and regular clothing. Don’t forget to check out the back rooms in the drop down menu!
The Premium Shop sells Gold seeds, potions, and summons. On special occasions some special pots and limited edition clothing can be purchased. The Premium Shop currently doesn't have a back room like the supply shop does.

Wand upgrading
At each new level (up to level 9 at the moment) a new wand will unlock in the supply shop. It is important to keep upgrading your wand when you can, because different seeds require different wand powers. Higher level wands will work with lower levels seeds and will sometimes help produce fewer duds with them. When you buy seeds from the supply shop, check the wand power needed (it is written in the seeds description and you can always check in your Satchel to verify the wand power required for casting certain seeds). Higher wands might also produce a wider variety in some types of seeds. Wands have to be traded-in in order.

 QUESTS and QUEST BASICS INFO

Quests
Quests are challenges that are presented to you by various other wizards in the game, and (in general) must be done in order. The exceptions being Gold-Seed quests and the fairy quest. Soon after you complete a quest the next one will be presented to you. You may need to cast a new type of seed for your next quest to be presented. If you cannot remember what quest you are on, you may go into your profile (lower left hand corner of the screen) and your past, present, and future quest badges will be listed there. Here are the first 3 quests on the island, they get more challenging and complex as you move along. More about these will be explained in detail farther on.

1) Wizarding Basics
2) Phoenix Flower Proficiency
3) Dragon Hide Gloves

If you have managed to complete all of the current quests, congratulations! You have officially caught up with the developers. This game is in beta form, meaning that new quests and updates are being added all of the time. Be on the look-out for new contests and quests.

Wizarding Basics
You need to cast round seeds, the first seeds available to you, to collect and hold 3 dogwort plants in your stand. Having three of the same plant lined up in a row is also known as 3-of-a-kind. Completing this will add 1 energy point to your casting ability.

Phoenix Flower Proficiency
You have to cast the fuzzy seeds. A plant from those seeds will drop an item, collect 3 of the items and you will complete the Phoenix Flower Proficiency quest. If you are casting fire seeds, make sure your wand is powerful enough to cast these seeds. Completing this will add 1 energy point to your casting ability.

Dragon Hide Gloves
You cannot buy the gloves. You have to collect 3 of an item from the fuzzy or the fire seeds in order to get the gloves. There are 2 plants that drop this item. But it has been noticed by older wizards that the plant from the fuzzy seeds that drops the item is more rare to grow. This quest is similar to the Phoenix Flower Proficiency Quest, except you need a different plant which drops a different item. Completing this will add 1 energy point to your casting ability.

 VISITORS

Trades
There are many traders that will come visit you on this island, for many of your items. Once you have completed the Phoenix Flower Quest, feel free to trade the feathers as desired with the traders. Once you have your dragon hide gloves, feel free to trade your scales. The items received from these trades are not necessary for any quest at the moment, just ways to gain silver and casts. Other traders will come visit as well, for many other of the items in your satchel. It is up to you if you want to do these trades, how good they are depends upon what the player wishes to obtain.

Cricket, Fairy, Owl, Crow
These are fun little visitors that come much more often when you get duds, as a consolation for getting duds. They bring you free casts, seeds, or silver depending upon which visitor you get, and which option you choose. Some you will see only during the day and others only after dark.

 OTHER INFORMATION

Scrolls
Just click on the person's name you wish to mail, and this will take you into their profile. Once there, you will see in the upper right hand area 'deliver a scroll' click that..type your message and click send falcon.
When you receive a scroll you will see a falcon above your avatar, to read it just click on the falcon, then click on the blue writing to open the scroll to read the message. Once you have read a scroll once, it gets put into your inbox. This can be viewed through the drop down list under the "Town Square" tab.

Viewing Other Profiles
To view your profile click on the "View your profile" button underneath your avatar. To view other wizard's profiles just click on their names in the forum, pub, or chat.

Family and Friends
please read the extensive announcements written about this here:
the initial release: http://theenchantedisland.com/topics/4195
and the update: http://theenchantedisland.com/topics/4578
Family and Friends do not give you an advantage in this game, it is just a fun feature to be able to find your EI friends quicker.

Potions
In the premium shop you can buy luck potions, bad luck potions, and green dragons. The green dragons will give you an instant refill of your magic. Good luck potions will greatly decrease your chance for duds, not growing a particular flower. The bad luck potion will increase your chances for duds, you will understand the reason for this potion once you start growing fire seeds. You may also buy a transformation potion in the clothing section of the supply shop which will transform you into the opposite gender. (If you find dude’s secret - you may even “become the master!”)

Flagging Topics
Topics can be flagged 24 hours after they have been posted to give other wizards and officials time to respond. Please do Not expect a response immediately, we work as quickly as we can, but cannot catch everything. If you know an answer to a question, feel free to answer other wizards questions! If it has been over 24 hours, and the question or bug seems to be something that Must be addressed Immediately or needs a town official or elders set of eyes, Flag It. If you accidentally flag a topic, just let an official know and we will unflag it for you.

Outfits/Clothing
If you have bought an outfit from the supply shop or the specialty ones that occasionally come into the Premium shop, they will go into your satchel. To wear them all you need to do is open your satchel and click “wear”. In order to wear male clothing, you must be a male avatar. Same with the female clothing.

Respecting Other Players/Spoilers
Please be careful when posting threads, that you don't give away the surprises you come across in the game. In this game to "hide" what is known as a spoiler you need to put the word spoiler in square brackets [ ] in front of the spoiler and at the end of the spoiler type /spoiler in square brackets [ ]. If you have done it correctly, when you press send you will see the text is "hidden" under a box.
To read a spoiler, click and drag over the box and it will reveal the words written underneath in blue writing for your eyes only and then revert back to the box when you leave the thread. Here is an example of what a boxed spoiler looks like **spoiler**

Town Officials, Town Elders, & Chat Administrators
Town Officials are players just like you who work hard at helping other wizards. They have additional ability's, however, please respect that it may take time for them to answer you as well. If you have forgotten exactly where you are on a particular quest, they are capable of letting you know as well. When they post, you will see 'Town Official' written in brackets in bold after their name and title and the background of their posts are pink.

Town Elders - there are only 2 of them. Keith and Dude are seen the most posting in the forums and answering questions. They are the developers and programmers of this game. All their posts have a blue background. This game is a hobby of theirs, not their full-time jobs, so please be patient when waiting for a reply from them!

Chat Administrators - are wizards placed in charge of monitoring the actions within the chat room. They have no other abilities outside the chat box so if you are stuck in your game and needing help you will have to seek the help of a Town Official or an Elder.

Editing Posts
For one hour after posting in a thread you are able to go back and edit what you have written by clicking on word edit at the top of you post. It will open a new screen and you can then make your changes. If you need your post edited after this time, you will need to contact a town official to do this for you.

Lily the Starseed

This is great, Lauren!

There was a newbie asking about gold today. Maybe you could include something under the heading Silver vs. Gold. The following information is in the Wiki.

Silver is used for all-day trades, while the rarer and harder-to-come-by gold can be spent on luxury goods found in the premium shop.

Just a thought...
