Having finally got my toolbar gold, I bought some snowflake seeds and continued trying to 'master' this seed. I've completed it twice before so I've got most of it, basically I just need a couple of threes and the 4 consecutives in the frozen rose ... but it seems this is going to be impossible!

As soon as I cast a Winter tree, the quest started again - including only allowing me to cast each frozen flower as it is 'unlocked' moving through the quest! As a result with 30 seeds I haven't cast a single rose, and now the gold levels are so low it's highly unlikely I'm going to be able to get enough gold together to even get to the top level of the quest - on top of which, if I did manage it, how much do you want to bet as soon as I complete the quest this time (and long before I manage any 3s or 4s of the rose) it'll reset and I'll be stuck again.

Once the quest has been completed once we should at least be able to cast all the flowers randomly, as we would with any other seed (except the square seed, of course, which has the reverse problem - not being able to cast the basic seeds once the shears are obtained), otherwise what's the point of having the 'complete' and 'master' badges?!

From my understanding this quest only restarts when you trade your snowflake for what the trader offers. If you don't trade you continue to cast the seeds as you normally would with any seed.

Perhaps you traded a third time?

luna the wanderer

This quest only restarts if you make a certain trade so if you say no to this trade you are then able to cast the snowflake seeds without re-doing the quest. **spoiler**

Okay, I'll try that! Ta ever so!

Hi Luna, I am having similar problem. I do not recall agreeing to buy the twinkling tankards because I do not like the look of them. I went away to cast other types of seeds and came back to cast the snowflakes. However I had to restart the quest again and I just noticed that the tankards are now in my satchet. Can you please check? I do not have enough gold to complete the quest for the second time. Is there any other way to cast for the frozen rose?

Nimue the Enchantress

The frozen roses were the last set I needed to master that seed ... and I assumed the only way to get there was to go through the quest again to the end (making sure you had a unicorn summons on hand for that final 4 in a row - or leaving the quest - before you started growing the roses - and returning to it when you had grown a unicorn). It was expensive but it's done - hurrah. If you don't have the gold to buy enough seeds (lots) to finish it (again) then I guess it will have to go on hold - wishing you the best of luck. I understand your frustration; I nearly finished mastering the Seasonal Sprigs but ran out of seeds (just the last few... !!!) so that will be a long wait to master that. :)

LOL - could someone *please* send me a unicorn summons?!

I desperately want to finish mastering this seed before they leave the shop, because I don't want to spend all my gold buying these seeds just for the 4 consecutives in the rose, but if I fail to master it by one or two seeds and they've gone from the shop, I shall scream!! And I'm not going to even try without a unicorn summons, the roses are just too rare - the chances of getting a fourth in three casts is just too low.

Please, Please, PLEASE - programmers, make it possible for us to buy unicorn summonses like we can cricket summonses, so we can have a reasonable chance at that fourth item when it's important, like now?

Pretty please?!!

There are several ways to acquire unicorn summonses. Though perhaps not by the time the snowflakes melt.

Well, I know of two - by gift, and by exchanging phantom petals, of which I have none at the moment and would have to look up how to get them! Maybe I should at that ...

Come to think of it, good idea, Sandy!

Two minutes later: Nope, that's no good. Phantom petals are dropped by **spoiler** - which is another restricted seed, so you can't get them with any reliability that way, either.

Ah, well, it seemed like a good idea. And according to the island wiki those are the only two ways to get unicorn summonses.

I wouldn't mind if they were difficult to get, as long as persistence was all that was needed to get them - eg a silver seed but very rare - and not just luck or the programmers' whim (as with most gold seeds).

I still think it would be fairer if we were able to buy them for gold for the occasional 'desperate need', though!

Sandy the Swimmer

There is a third way -- one of three gifts when you **spoiler** again. But you'd have to be incredibly lucky this time. You might have more chance with your nocturnals. That's why lots of us tend to stockpile when there is nothing special to do. Avoiding the drama of the last minute dash. I wish you lots of good luck.

Jehoza the Fox

Thanks, Sandy. I think I'm going to need it!

Thanks for the tips to get frozen roses. I will have to wait till the next offer of the snowflakes. Hope it won't be a year till the next winter.
