We have introduced a new way for you to earn gold, the Enchanted Island browser toolbar. You'll receive 400 gold for installing the toolbar (credits within 48 hours, we are working to make this instant). The toolbar shows you your energy refill timer plus other useful stats. In addition, you receive free gold simply for using the toolbar (it's a search bar) plus certain places on the internet where you shop you'll receive gold, almost like those "cash-back credit cards" where you earn money for doing the shopping you would do normally, except you earn gold for doing the shopping you'd do normally.

[b]Do I *only* receive gold for installing it?[/b]

No, in addition to the 400 gold for installing it, you also receive additional gold just for using it (for searches) and in addition to that, you may receive gold for shopping too.

[b]I didn't receive my gold for installing[/b]

The initial gold for installing will occur within 48 hours after install. When we first launched we said "instant", but it's taking us time. We're working to make this instant but for the next few days we're saying 48 hours till we get things worked out. Don't worry, you'll get credited.

[b]My timer or gold is not exactly the same as what I see in town square[/b]

The toolbar syncs up every couple minutes, so just wait a minute and you'll see it correct itself.

[b]Which searches do I receive credit for?[/b]

You only receive credit for searches that are done in the toolbar search box. And you only receive credit for "real searches", so please just use the search box as you normally would to do internet searches.

[b]Will this install spyware, viruses, pop-ups, etc?[/b]

No it will not. We've done thorough testing of this, it's a safe product. It does record your searches for statistical purposes and to better target advertising, but this is the same as every search engine does. It doesn't know anything about you, it doesn't know who you are or where you live or any scary private stuff like that. :)

[b]Can I uninstall it if I want?[/b]

Yes, in Firefox you go to Tools > Add-ons, and in Internet Explorer you go to your Windows Control Panel, Add & Remove programs.

[b]Will other browsers besides Firefox & Internet Explorer be support?[/b]

At this time we only support those two. We may expand to support other browsers in the future but we can't say for sure, it depends on a lot of factors.

We're working to address this issue. In the meantime here is a work-around. After the shopping mall loads, hold down your SHIFT key while you click the word "Home" in the mall navigation. This will open it outside of Facebook where it won't be cut-off.

How do I unistall the toolbar? Its not showing the correct energy levels. I've looked in my programs and can't see it there.

Does it give you 400 gold once and then to get more you have to shop? Just asking if I understood right.

I installed it - the search feature is fairly crummy - could not find anything regarding the Malaysian Open - had to open another browser to find the answer for the husband - and I do not see credit for the 400 gold hitting anywhere - and the energy is not in cync with energy listed when I am on the page

I posted a very scathing post, I have had feedback from it too, but it has been deleted! The whole topic has gone, what is going on when you get feedback that is not what you like you go and delete the whole thing, there were over 110 replies and now it is gone! Elders I suggest that this is out of order and you should think about what you are doing here. I have been here a long time and never before have I seen a whole topic deleted. I installed the toolbar & said it was installed but is not anyware that i can see. Also did not receive my gold for installing it.

Sadly I believe I will be leaving the Island. this once addictive game, which I played faithfully, has just lost all its magic. It would have been so nice to have one game on facebook that was feasible for all to succeed; a little slower if you were unable to buy gold, but still possible. I will truly miss this game, well the way it used to be.

Wellwell, I know what was said, and agreed with most of them, how is decreasing our gold income any better? I wasn't expecting to get an increase. But with all the gold quests and how expensive it is to finish them, this will simply not do. If it stays this way, you at least should considering to lower the prices in the premium shop. And also it's not very inspiring to try to level up, when we get so little gold for it. I barely could cope with the gold quests before, when we got 860 gold each time we leveled up...

I have had a lot of fun with this game, finishing quests and such. But I'm not sure I think it is that fun anymore..

the toolbar is installed in your internet browser, and you should be able to uninstall from the tools menu... in Firefox this is Tools>Options>Main>Manage Add-ons

Sad to know they're changing a lot of things here on EI, first decreasing the gold awarded to the players by Kendral when they level up, then it becomes quite commercial installing that toolbar so the players could earn more gold instead of getting the golds as a reward for the love of playing this "use to be " a brilliant game, now i can't get my friends to play this anymore as it seems to be asking more and more donations so you'll be able to have more gols in order to buy those premium seeds, or you have to spend the rest of yur life glued to your computer chair and eyes to your computer screen before you can afford to buy those expensive seeds from Pursten's shop before you'll be able to finish a quest not to mention earning one of those badges..... it used to be fun when i first join this island 7 months ago, but sadly no longer now, i think i have to disappear in the near future... :(

I can't even download it for internet explorer as it keeps aborting. I even tried with my virus protector turned off. I did have it on firefox but I was unable to do any searches as it just stated 'no rewards until tomorrow' so if I was not able to get gold for searching there was little point in keeping it installed.

I am so disgusted by this. I am leaving. Having been a player that spent a ton of money on gold, I feel like this is a huge slap in the face. A "slight decrease" REALLY? 66% is SlIGHT to you? If people were complaining about aquiring gold via donations, how the heck do you think they are going to be shopping all over the darn internet just to get gold for this game? You have absolutely ruined the game for all those who can not afford to shop online and then smacked them upside the head for it by taking away the one way they DID have to gain gold. I am so disgusted by this. I will be making sure to let EVERYONE I invited to this game to leave. I am embarassed now that I ever invited people, not to mention getting my son's friends turned on to it. KIDS! They certainly are NOT going to be shoppin the net. Thanks for absolutely nothing. Hi .. I have Google Chrome and it supports most graphics in EI as IE8 used to hang up a lot. Is it possible for you to make it compatible with chrome. I would appreciate it.

So very unfair - this used to be one of the really decent games on here and now sadly it is no longer any fun to play! Farmville here I come!

I've installed the toolbar OK, got my 1st "small gold" reward for doing searches. I'm not crazy about added toolbars infringing on screen space, but I can live with it. I do like seeing my energy levels and the clock.

I'm also not crazy about having the toolbar work only with certain browsers. I now have to log onto FB with Firefox to play EI, and with Safari to do Mafia Wars (are those two opposite extremes in games, or what??) as Firefox has a major glitch with MW at the moment (at least on my Mac)

I understand the attempt at fairness, but decreasing the Gold with level ups? Before this "upgrade" EI was the only game I played where I was able to participate fully at gold levels without onerous monetary input. There is a LOT of stuff I am unable to do on Mafia Wars and Farmville because it is sooo difficult to earn "gold". This made EI my favorite game, because I felt like a full and valued participant.

@ Keith: The mall associated with the toolbar loads, however, you can only see the top half of the page, there is no scroll option. Also, if you click the "view all", it goes to an error page.

@Mez My post was deleted, and I have been banned from sending scrolls/ posting on any of the forums WITHOUT any contacting or warning. Just the buttons have disappeared. This is my sisters account, as I just wanted to warn people that voicing an opinion doesn't just get your post deleted, it may also get you banned (me and maybe others as well).

I agree with the point that it is becoming too commercial as it will become difficult to earn gold instead of easier when Kendral used to award the gold. Its a little unfair and I guess even I would eventually think of giving it up!

I always use Google Chrome browser because it runs on my slow computer far more faster and smoother than IE or Firefox. It would be nice if Chrome was supported too, but I understand it might not happen. Oh well. I will have to think what I do now. :/

Finally managed to download for explorer but it still states 'no rewards until tomorrow'. If this isn't changed soon I will be forced to uninstall as I will not be able to make any searches via the toolbar with it being switched off for gold.

im very happy that the snowman in the town square is gone after the winter we had with all the snow i was sick of looking at the snowman everytime i log in so thanks for removing the snowman ..

I will give my beloved EI another few days to see how it goes, but really, I have no idea how we are expected to be able to afford the gold quests now that the level up amounts have been decreased. I for one will not be buying gold. :(

The toolbars installed fine for me... now to wait and see if i get the gold for installing it...

it's credited me for searches aswell.. but 3 gold per 5 searches isnt really worth bothering to install it to be honest.

sorry you do not recognize safari...that is my browser because i am a proud apple user. wont use explorer just to get the gold...even tho the thought is great on your behalf, guess my only option is to buy(donate) fake gold with real money...going to have to think long and hard about that...unemployment budget doesnt allow for gambling right now. I see there are some buggies anyway...oh well, I will continue to cast happily and not complain.

I am going to uninstall again as even if I log into my husband's account it still states no rewards until tomorrow so no gold means no toolbar for me.

I am still getting no answers as to why it won't pay out! It is certainly not worth it if you only end up with 9 extra gold per day for countless searches during the full day.

These changes are to benefit the developers, not the players. Computer programmers have the right to be paid for their work, it is difficult. However, I could have told the "Elders" that the minute they LOOK money grubbing they will lose players.

oh my goodness... it's a game people. Try having a life instead of blasting the folks who are trying to give us a little something to do. You sound just like the students I try to teach... gimme, gimme, gimme. No amount of gifts given to you will make the matter go away. Life (and fun games) are supposed to be a bit of a challenge. You have to work for your rewards.
For those of you looking for your instantaneous gold after installing the toolbar... THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY IT MAY TAKE 48 HOURS. Geez!
I'd love for everyone to be willing to let the Elders do their thing to make the game more and more interesting. Until you're ready to help them develop it, please be patient!

@Deb, just to let you know, the original announcement said nothing of the 48 hour wait on the gold for installing the toolbar. So it is not members fault, for posting when they did not get it. It was originally thought that it would be instant, btw.

The whole idea of being able to comment is to share bugs and issues and Keith and Dude need this information and have always requested it.

Diane, the Toolbar installation gold can take up to 48 hours to be credited. Keith has said that they're working on making it instant, but it's not yet.

This toolbar took away my other toolbars!!!! I had one just for farmville up there and now it is gone!!! That is how I played my farmville. It let me know when I had bonuses and when my crops needed to be harvested!! I wouldn't have added this toolbar if I had known it would take all of the other ones away!! I have been away for over a week because I've had the flu and came back to sooo many changes. I have been silent on all issues until now. It is hard enough to earn gold on here and I play all the time when I am well. Now it makes it doubly hard to play. I liked the game with exception to the slowness of getting filled up and getting gold and the high prices of the seeds and limited time to buy them and the wands. I can't play if it continues. I really liked the game, too. I was staying away from my farmville as much to play this but now, I feel cheated. I lost all of my toolbars and just have this oen and it is not fair!!

Okay, I've read all the changes regarding gold - both threads. I'm a bit bummed that it seems we're expected to buy gold more often (I'm unemployed right now, so that isn't going to happen on my end - sorry) but I did install the toolbar for Firefox and it seems to be working just fine. I did not get the 400 gold instantly, but I wasn't expecting to since I read the initial post from Keith saying it may take up to 48 hours. No biggie - I'll live. ;O)

I'll have to see how much gold I get when I level up - I do understand that it's been decreased, but the daily bonus should be fine for me. I do loads of internet searches, so I'm looking forward to seeing how well that all works out with regards to earning gold.

All in all, I'm not too anxious about the changes. I still really love this game, I play it every day, and plan on continuing to do so. :O)

It won't even let me use my yahoo, Windows or Google toolbars! :'(
